Love was in full bloom at Chateau Lill in Woodinville, WA, as Alicia and Brad embarked on a romantic engagement session that perfectly captured the essence of their romance. The charming vineyard set the stage for a lovely spring day that started with sunshine and ended with cat-attiitude.

The couple’s first outfit choice showcased their love of fashion. Alicia donned a gorgeous Zimmerman gown that looked like a work of art in itself and matched the unique blue-engagement ring. Brad went with a relaxed jeans-and-jacket combination that complemented his laid-back, warm personality. Against the backdrop of the garden, the couple exuded a timeless elegance that spoke volumes about their connection.

We wandered around the grounds of Chateau Lill, chatting about all things spring (as flowers had finally popped up after a long, cold winter) and their upcoming December wedding. They decided to hold it in Ireland at Gloster Castle. One of my absolute favourites in all of Ireland!
The weather this day couldn’t have been better either. The previous day had been torrential rain, threatening our plans. But then Mother Nature smiled kindly down at us, and we were rewarded with sunshine that warmed our necks and our souls.

Brad proposed to Alicia at Stourhead in England, where Pride & Prejudice was filmed, and we knew that we could recreate some of the English countryside atmosphere within Chateau Lill!

The pond and willow provided moments where they could practice a bit of yearning and sweeping, romantic portraits. Paying homage to Autumn de Wilde’s adaptation of Emma, Alicia and Brad gently touched fingertips for one photograph – a favourite frame of mine. It was little moments like that that really brought their love story out.

Afterwards, we went to Alicia and Brad’s home for a furry addition to their portraits, their adorable cat, Lumi. I am a cat lover, hands down. Cats are so delightfully sassy. Lumi, a chocolate-matted ragdoll cat, was no exception, and I loved her for it. Lumi had very little interest in my taking her portraits until persuaded by treats. Once fed, Lumi was a little more obliging to pose for the camera.
That is, until she had had enough and walked away, tail held defiantly high. I want to encourage all my cat-lovers to include their pets in their sessions if they are an important part of your lives!
